Coke Bottle Handle
We designed a Handle for a beverage cooler to be like an 8 oz. Coke® bottle, and another like the 10 oz. bottle. The 10 oz. version Handle is now used all over the world on commercial beverage display coolers in retail businesses. The polycarbonate Front is tinted a light green color to look like an old glass bottle. The Front part is made the shape of a half bottle. The back of the plastic part is painted black up to the liquid level line of a new Coke® bottle. This makes the "bottle" to look like it is full of liquid. The white CocaCola® logo is pad printed on the front surface. After assembly, the handle is clear-coated with a protective coating.
The Handle Back is the shape of the bottle but flat. The Back is a clear polycarbonate and is ultrasonically welded to the Front. The Handle Cap is gray-colored polycarbonate, simulating the look of a crimped-on steel cap. The Cap is shear-welded to the Front and Back also using ultrasonic energy.
The Handle is mounted to the bracket of the front door of the display cooler. Stainless steel screws
mount the Back of the Handle to a bracket on the door. Bosses molded into the Back contain metal
threaded-inserts with a flange that are thermally inserted from the interior side of the Handle,
before the Front and Back are welded together.
